The client wanted a state-of-the-art facility. they turned to Progressive Technology to design and implement the technology infrastructure. The clubhouse, a 25,000 square foot facility, required Progressive to design and install a complete cabling system to support their data, voice and multimedia needs. Structured cabling was installed to provide video and satellite capability. Clubhouse was linked to external sites via Fiber Optics throughout the plantation. The topology of the clubhouse consists of CAT5e, CAT6, and structured cable connecting a total of 3 closets within the facility. These provide data, voice, and video throughout the clubhouse. The data is handled by 6 3com SuperStack 10/100 Managed Switches with Gigabit capability. The CAT6 cable connects all closets at a rate of 1 Gigabit per second. All Fiber in the plantation converges the clubhouse. The fiber is converted into Ethernet and tied into the 3com switches. This allows for communication from POS systems, administration computers, and Internet, which is handled by the server location in the development building at the entrance to the plantation. In addition to the structure cabling, data and voice cable was installed by Progressive to support over 300 locations in the facility. Video Distribution Cable Television, multiple Satellite Receivers, and DVD had to be combined and fed to all of the 30 TV’s in the clubhouse. This is handled by Channel Plus RF Distribution Amps that combine all signals in one closet and feed to the TV’s. This also allows for the flexibility of patching in a single source at will to one particular TV using a single cable. A/V Automation A need quickly arose to be able to automate functions of the TV’s such as a preset channel, volume level, and On/Off control. This communication is handled over the CAT5 portion of the structured cable. It sends IR relay signals from a AV rack to the individual TV’s to allow these functions to be accomplished with the push of a button.
